cinema_babeOkay, I wasn't going to talk about being Catholic but I've got to share this. I've seen the mosaic below in the Basilica in Washington DC and it it HUGE. This picture does not do it justice. I dubbed him "Big Angry Jesus" and I love this guy. Look at the guns on him, this is what the carpenters *I* know look like. Not some rail thin guy with pained look on his face and long gentle looking fingers. BAJ may have forgiven but he hasn't forgotten and he's back on a mission.
Does he look pissed or what?
What's ever funnier is that you have a decidedly European looking Christ (blond hair, blue eyes, fair skin) in a vaguely eastern setting. One day I might look this up and do some research on what the artist aiming for. Whatever he or she was doing, the totality of it work for me.
