theferrett's LJ and I'm curious what *my* music lovin' peeps and others might think. Feel free to comment here or there.
How did I answer (the text in bracket was added for this post and stuff I didn't include in my original response post)?
"We Will Rock You
Sweet Child o' Mine
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Johnny B Goode (was there a solo in that song or am I imagining it
Hotel California
Beat It (It's Eddie Van H, I'm calling Rock)
My #1: Satisfaction
[these are in a rough order of sorts]
This is my rationale, I call it the, "My Mom Test". If it's so well known that my mother would recognize the solo it gets points. If she would know the song it gets more points and if she could recognize the band (or at least give a reasonable description of them), it gets more points still. [I assign up to 5 points for each for a total of up to 15 points)
She's in her early 70s so she grew up with rock and could probably easily tell you every popular band from the late 40s through the early 90s. (Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if she knew who Jay-Z is.)
I arranged them in semi ascending order. I know that she would know Satisfaction right off the bat, that got the and Beat It wouldn't be too far behind."
