Thoughts on the Walking Dead - Spoilerish

If you remember back to Season 1, the Crazy CDC Guy whispered something into Rick's ear before he imploded the place. They've never told you what he said I wonder if everyone or some people or most people have the zombie virus in their systems but it lies dormant until something triggers it.
AFAIK, Shane wasn't bit or scratched by a zombie. It's doubtful that Randall was either since you heard Shane slit his throat and kill him. The first time Rick and Shane were going to release Randall and all the zombies piled out of the school, the two former deputies saw two zombies dressed in law enforcement uniforms. I think I recall one of them mentioning that neither of them looked as though they had been bitten.
That makes 4 people who seemingly spontaneously became zombies. What's even more curious is that Dale was pretty much ripped apart by a zombie but didn't become one. I wonder why?
I've seen press where they said that people will die in tonight finale. I just think that after killing off Dale and Shane, they won't get rid of any more of the central characters this season. The ones on the far perimeters of the group though or who can't necessarily be counted on to keep their wits about them are at risk for being in the RIP montage reel on Talking Dead at midnight.
So do I think is going to make it to the first episode of Season 3?
Rick Grimes - His chances at survival? Not to worry I put him at 100%, he'll make it
Lori Grimes (+unborn baby) - I think she'll make it through the end of Season 3 but I'm not sure if She'll make it though Season 4 and I think it's a 50/50 shot that she'll miscarry. She's almost a sure bet to survive, though 95%
Andrea - She's become the new Dale, she's almost certain to survive. That tension between the old society's tacit rule of civility and the new world's valuation of a person by how useful they can be to the group is a potent one. I can't see them dropping that. If she does die it will be in a fierce fight with the other survivors and she *will* take a few walkers with her. (BTW: did we know that Andrea was a *civil rights attorney*. That means that I missed out on a lot of the tragedy and irony of the attitude she had from the time her sister died until Dale died. I must have missed that in previous episodes). I'm putting her odds 75%
Glenn - He'll survive. he might get a non Zombie injury protecting Maggie but he'll be there at the Start of Season 3 I'm calling him at 90%
Carl Grimes - He'll survive and become more and more difficult to handle, and anyway, they already almost kill him once, I don't see them doing that to Rick and Laurie. His chances of survival are 100%
Daryl Dixon - He'll survive, that's what he does. Also the last we saw of his brother was the had he hacked off when he was chained to that roof in Atlanta. True, Merle could be dead but I don't think so. Daryl's hallucination showed how conflicted his relationship with his brother is. I'd wager a significant sum of money (if I had one) that we'll see Merle in Season 3 or 4. I'm putting Daryl at 100%
Carol Peletier - I think there's a 75% chance of survival here. On one hand they have create this *tension* between she and Daryl, it's not clear to me if it's sexual or he just feels for her because of her abusive husband and losing her daughter. They may want to keep that going. However, her character has had some tough losses and I don't ever recall seeing her wielding a gun or cudgel to kill a zombie so she could be at risk for one of them getting her.
Theodore "T-Dog" Douglas - Let's see....lone, random black guy, no family, no lover. But they like to do the unconventional and he's a great background character who a go to guy for fights and such with Shane gone, I think they're going to keep him. I put his odds at
Ruh-Roh.
The stereotype if that statistically speaking he would be the next one to get it. But, this show goes for the unexpected so I'm putting him at a 75% chance of surviving like Carol
Herschel Green - I think he'll survive tonight, Herschel is a big ole' badass who chose to put it behind him when he had a family and settled down. He's also protecting his family and his home. They need someone who knows something about medicine in this story so I don't see him going anywhere, he's very useful to the plot. I put his odds at 80% that he'll make it. If the unthinkable happens, I envision a touching scene where one of the characters will invoke him finally resting with his wife.
Maggie Green - I think that Maggie and Glen are too popular as a couple and Glen is a big fan favorite with the graphic novel demographic. I think that Maggie has a bit of the badass in her like her father. I put her chances at survival at 90-10
Beth Greene - She pretty emotionally fragile (remember when she became catatonic after the barn walkers were all killed) and wanted to die already, seeing a crowd of walkers coming at the house may make her rethink her choice to live. I think there's and 85% change she'll end up dead. I'm thinking a 30% chance of survival and I'm being generous
Jimmy (Beth's boyfriend) - After Rick gave him shooting lessons, has anybody seen this guy? He's said like what, 50 words all season. He's like a ghostly presence floating in the background (I'm even assuming he's still on the scene. I haven't noticed him in so long. Was he dispatched off camera?) Assuming he's still alive, he's an almost a sure goner. I'm giving him a 30% chance of surviving
Patricia (Otis' girlfriend) - Like T-Dog she's this character who is just hanging around with no blood or romantic ties with anyone. I don't think this bodes well for her. People will mourn her if she's gone but it won't incapacitate group members like it would if Carl or Glen died. I'm saying she's got a 50% chance. *If* one of the walkers coming towards the house is Otis (Don't forget the last time we saw him he was being ripped about by a whole hoard) I think her odds plummet to, I'll say 25%
So there you go dear reader. I'm looking forward to this so much I might actually stop working for an hour.
