LJ Data Mining Information

I've seen this info pop up in a couple of places and I wanted to pass it along in case you missed it elsewhere.

SixApart/LiveJournal will start data mining journals, posts, profiles and other "non-private" info on the 27th of September. Though only 5% of users' information will actually be collected, all users will be automatically opted-in, so the potential of being one of that 5% is there.

Here's how you can opt out:

1.) Make sure you are logged in.
2.) Click here http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/to access the admin console
3.) Paste this in:

set opt_exclude_stats 1

Also, if you mod a community and want that opted out, you can enter:

set for communityname opt_exclude_stats 1

into the admin console in the same way. (Replace "communityname" with your community's name.)
