Sep. 18th, 2006 01:06 amOK, I am posting this from my shiny brand new laptop computer. I am a technology whore and this is making me very happy. It's a good machine with lots of room to expand as needed. Now I can take notes *and* play mine sweeper during class. (Um, only kidding about the mine sweeper part...)
Tomorrow I go to a permanent adult type j-o-b for the first time in almost 3 1/2 years. I would much rather be a full time student and finish my Masters in 3 semesters but this job is with the University so I get free tuition and benefits It's pretty hard to not jump at it. I'm actually rather excited about this job and not just because it's (quasi) permanent. I'll be designing training that will help kids who are in the social services system. Working in the concrete canyons for "The Man" was fine but with this I can actually make some people's lives much easier without having to wade directly in the trenches. I'm very excited to be involved with this project.
I know I can do this job and do it well but I still feel like I did when I showed up 2 weeks late for the first day of 1st grade (I had contracted Scarlet Fever that summer and missed the first 2 or 3 weeks of school.)

savethewave, I made up a new drink. It doesn't have a name yet, any ideas?
*Nameless Drink*
2 shots of rum (I used Bermuda dark rum)
3 ounces of apple cider or "natural" apple juice
3 ounces of seltzer water
Lime wedges
Fill a tall, chilled glass with ice, if desired
Mix rum and cider in a tall chilled glass
Top with seltzer water
Squeeze lime wedge into drink
Drop lime into glass
Enjoy!
This can also be made with warm cider or whirred in a blender to create a slushy drink. In either case, you can leave the seltzer water out if you'd like.
