It's about damn time.

In the Civil War, (at least) one of my people fought in a segregated army commanded by a white office.

In WWII, my uncles fought in a segregated Army commanded by black officers.

In Vietnam, my father and bis brothers (AKA my uncles on the other side of my family) fought in a desegregated army where my father, and NCO, gave orders to Black, White, Asian and Hispanic men and they followed his orders. His superiors were black and white.

I am generally loathe to equate racial civil rights with civil rights based on sexual orientation; in my book they are two different things. However, when it comes to allowing competent, talented (and in the case of those who have been discharged), experienced men and women to serve their country with honor and pride there should be no sexual orientation or gender; only ability.
