I am the self appointed queen of the roadtrip.

In the years before I got married, I saw wide swaths of this country with nothing more than a duffle bag and my ATM card. I'm single (again), I've got a halfway (ok, more than half way) decent job and I'm my left foot is getting itchy to take to the highways and press that accelerator to the floor. I might be going alone, I might have company, I don't know.

What don't I have?

A clue as to where to go. I know I want to make a trip to Philly, it's been a while since I checked out the museums there and someone gave me a tip on a museum of medical oddities that I've *got* to see. I know I want to go to New England in the fall and see the leaves (it might also be a chance to meet one of my internet friends F2F.) There are spots in NJ I want to check out and I've got to make a trek to Cape May because it's been too long since I've been there.

So dear readers.......what do you suggest? Where would you suggest I jump in my car and head off to?

I do not know, but if you're headed to New England in the fall let me suggest the lovely Springfield, Vermont :)

I used to go to Waterbury and stay in this odd motel that had a WWII theme. I can't even remember the name, wonder if it's still there? I also liked to check out Cold Hollow Mills(?) while I was up there.

You never know where I might turn up.

Um. Wisconsin?

You can stop in Chicago on the way. I guess it depends on the stuff you like to see. Milwaukee is nice. Here, well. It's here.

Wow, I never thought about WI. What is there to do in Wisconsin, it would be nice to get another state under my belt. I'd probably skip Chicago, though, not one of my favorite cities.

Hmmmmm, Wisconsin.....

Depends on the time of year. A lot of it is hunting and fishing, out in the back country, any time. I liked Milwaukee a bunch (until the whole marriage debacle). Lots of good music stuff there -- Milwaukee Metal Fest, 10 days of Summer Fest, some big country music thing up here (that I have zero interest in attending). There's, um, cheese. Lots of nature hiking up here: there's a waterfall trail advertised.

Oh, and can't forget the Peshtigo Fire Museum. *rolls eyes*

Pick a random direction and just go for a week or two, with no real destination or plan. That's how I like to do it.

Sleep in dive motels and eat diner food. Watch the sunrise from the highway. Just go.

I don't quite a week or two but I spent most of my 20s doing just that. Those were some of the best times I ever had.

I don't think I've ever been to Amherst. I'll put it, and a grrrl power roadtrip, on the shortlist.

I'm going to be in your general vicinity on Saturday, I know it's pretty short notice but if you want to do something after 5pm on Saturday, let me know.

Amherst is awesome! I went to Amherst College and LOVED it too. I miss the valley a lot sometimes. And Hampshire. And Umass. And NoHo (Northampton). Do you know Kevin and Justin, who are now there?

Just did that sort of impromptu road trip to Long Island two weekends ago and it was ***magical*** to end up on Fire Island off-season.

Have a joyous time, love. xoxoxo

And if you're coming to Philly, oh roadtrip queen, may I offer my humble new abode?
