So now Yahoo and Forbes will send you what they've dubbed and "E-Mail Time Capsule"

Okay I get it, but why? I guess I'm just a romantic, I like my time capsules to be slightly dusty and sealed by human hands. I want to reach inside and pull out artifacts of the past. I want to feel their weight and texture; put my nose in them and smell the funk of an anachronism.

The funny thing to me is that they're sort of assuming that email technology as we recognize it will even exist. Its not that I don't assume that too (techno-whore that I am), but who knows? They're also assuming that people will even have the same email addresses. I don't know about anyone who happens to read this but I know that I've gone through about a dozen different email addresses and currently I'm sitting on about 6 (I'll explain them all in another post someday.)

I wonder how many people will use school addresses which will expire shortly after graduation?

In their Yahoo/Forbe's defense one can sent this auto message from the past to hit you up in 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 years. I would love to see what most people opt for.

Did I send one to myself? Yup. If all goes well in 20 years a wise old professor will get a not from a stressed (and slightly sad) 40 year old undergrad saying, "It will all turn out okay. You are destined for great things and great loves even if you can't spell worth a damn." I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff.

I wonder what kind of message 20 year old me would have left for 40 year old me?

See you in 20 years!
