I stumbled upon a program called LJ Archives that lets you download all of your LJ entries so you can browse through them It says you can also analyze them but I haven't tested that yet.

I have no idea if I have any practical use for this but it looked cool.

I think my ex uses this feature to create both soft and hard copies of her LJ in case the system crashes...

Yeah, that was my aim as well; I'm interested to see what else this software can do.

Whoa! I just discovered and installed that exact thing yesterday. I went looking for it so I could have a copy of my old entries that I had control over, just in case...

(Frankly, I'm more worried about them going under and falling off the Net than I am about getting my account flushed for offensiveness. But either way, some of my old entries are art I'd hate to lose.)

I found it by doing a google search to see if there was anything like this out there. I'm also not worried about my journal getting blown away for being naughty so much as there being some technical glitch that would keep me from getting to my account. Or the site going under and the plug being pulled.
